Josie Maran Argan Cleansing Oil
I received this sample of Josie Maran's Argan Cleansing Oil ($32/6oz) in a Sephora Beauty Insider 500-point gift. I've been lukewarm about my experience with Josie Maran products, partly because they market themselves as being natural but some of their products contain well-know non-natural ingredients, like silicones. This product does contain all-natural ingredients, but I can't say I am a fan. To be fair, I didn't really give it a fighting chance. I know that many people claim oil cleansers work wonders for blemish-prone skin, but this product feels so thick and viscous...I just never got up to guts to try it. I have been using it as a body oil after showering and that works for me. It contains numerous natural oils including argan oil (duh!), safflower oil, grapeseed oil, olive oil, and sweet almond oil. It also includes grapefruit peel oil, which scents the product.
I love the smell of grapefruit, so this stuff has me there, but otherwise I think it was a miss for me. Has anyone used this? Care to share your experiences?

Most of the time I roll my eyes when I see Josie Maran on natural beauty blogs, but the ingredients in this sound alright. I haven't tried it, but don't think I'm going to after your review!
ReplyDeleteI just read your tweet and came by... I have never used Josie Maran Products, however some of my readers have mentioned that the argan oil is really good? What do you think?

I haven't had too much luck with oil cleansers although I am always willing to try it again. One thing I did like was putting on the cleansing oil and then wiping it off with a wet towel that was soaked in hot water. I enjoyed the experience. Have you add any luck with other cleansing oils?
ReplyDelete@mary - Yeah, this product just wasn't for me but I know it's worked for others! I think there are some favorable reviews on the Josie Maran website.
ReplyDelete@A BRIT GREEK - I like Josie Maran's argan oil on its own but don't find myself using it too much. I do use it as a cuticle oil and it does a good job there. I know some people love it as a hair moisturizer but it's a bit too thick for my fine hair. I think Josie Maran sells a mini version of their argan oil, maybe you could try it out!
@Kourtney Linebaugh - Sounds nice! I haven't tried any other oil cleansers, but if I did I'd probably look for one with a thinner consistency. I've heard good things abut the Nude oil cleanser.
